Musculoskeletal Humanoid Robot Copies Your Muscles (+VIDEO)
Terminator robots are not just a flight of fancy anymore. Researchers at the University of Tokyo have designed a “musculoskeletal” humanoid robot that simulates the body of a 12-year-old child. Kenshiro features artificial muscles, a skeletal structure and can mimic the natural movements and positional stresses of a real human body. It has aluminum bones and 160 artificial muscles in the neck, shoulders, trunk, and legs, that are able to expand and contract. Currently its true speed and precision are far from human ones, though the accuracy of the robot’s construction could help us learn more about the way, how the human body functions.
