Futuristic MicroMAX Car Concept Features High Level Of User Interaction

The Swiss builder and tuner, Rinspeed, has unveiled its funky microMAX concept vehicle at the Geneva auto show. The microMAX accommodates three passengers and a driver in semi-standing positions, with room left over for an unfolded baby stroller or shopping cart. Its interior arouses a homey feeling, and the so-called “lounge” area replete with a coffee maker and refrigerator for refreshments and unlimited internet access for multitasking is also aboard. Regarding the exterior design, the vehicle has bright turquois finish and eccentric graphics; the windows are made of Plexiglas with a non-scratch coating. The electric vehicle is powered by a repurposed forklift drive system sourced from Linde Material Handling. It’s quiet-running, and uses a fully synthetic, speed-dependent, acoustic warning system to alert pedestrians of its approach. An important feature of this future-car concept is its high level of user interaction. The project partner Harman designed up its new “urbanSWARM” technology, software that utilizes the existing Harman Cloud platform for unprecedented connectivity between microMAX vehicles, passengers, and drivers. The urbanSWARM can use the crowdsourced info to offer alternate routes to avoid congestion, assist people looking for on-the-spot rides, find regular carpoolers, and locate destinations. The driver watches it all unfold on a 19-inch touch screen where he can monitor ride requests, passenger destinations, and traffic updates.
