Truss Reconstruction And Manipulation Done By Robot (+VIDEO)

Autonomous Robot, Truss Reconfiguration
The robot meant for truss reconfiguration and traversing can fabricate a 3D truss structure completely autonomously, meaning with zero human interference. The machine developed by Jeremy Blum and Franz Nigl directed by Dr. Hod Lipson employs three basic motion algorithms: a 90 degrees turn around a vertical beam; a 180 degree spin over a beam; and a traversal shift along the beam in both horizontal and vertical planes. The robot uses reflectivity sensors to identify the physical shapes of the structure and enabling it to disassemble trusses. All this sounds pretty ready to help out at construction sites.
