The project of Stanford University team of engineers, supported by Olympus Corporation, C2S2 Focus Center and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, brought to appearance of a tiny chip that can travel through blood vessels and perform diagnosis and simple invasive surgeries. The large step forward of this project is the usage of wireless power to make the medical chip move independently within the human bloodstream. The scientists applied a new electromagnetic radio transmitter to direct the small chip inside the human body to deliver drugs, zap blood clots or successfully perform the duties mentioned above.
