A new industrial coating, which can repel water and oils, has been lately developed. Being both superhydrophobic and oleophobic, Ultra-Ever Dry waterproofs any surface with a layer of nanotechnology coating. In addition to just keeping things dry it may also have other applications, e.g. it can be used as an anti-corrosion and anti-contamination layer. Furthermore, Ultra-Ever Dry has self-cleaning properties as well. There’s already a similar technology, Liquipel, that coats and splashproofs your mobile electronics, maybe Ultra-Ever Dry can also be used in a the same way on electronics. ArsTechnica is currently asking its readers to suggest ideas on what to test the coating on.
