The Ikei Laboratory of Tokyo Metropolitan University Graduate School of System Design is working on a virtual body technology that aims to enable various experiences with the help of the five senses. You can experience traveling all around the world or running the world record 100-meter dash of a famous athlete. This smart technology uses conventional audio and video footage and can recreate smells as well as the feel of the wind and of stepping on the ground. The equipment used includes a 3D monitor, headphones, a fan that creates breeze and special sense, a chair that partially leans, vibrates and foot pedals. These work together to stimulate five senses of a subject fixed in a seat, creating an unusual virtual experience.
