iRobot in cooperation with In Touch are now working at the new telepresence robot, RP-VITA, effective in health care. RP-VITA stands for Remote Presence Virtual Independent Telemedicine Assistant. Being based on the Ava robot platform, the system aims to enable doctors check in patients distantly. The robot can easily move within a hospital, provide access to various diagnostic devices and give access to a patient’s record. While both companies are waiting for approval of the robot’s autonomous navigation, at present it can be controlled with an iPad app manually.
