Researchers from the Ghent University have recently created a curved LCD display that uses the entire surface of the lens to make up an image. Jelle De Smet, the chief researcher on the project claims, that this technology will never make a replacement of the cinema screen for watching movies. At the same time it might be highly interesting using the novelty for specific applications like showing road directions or projecting text messages from our smart phones straight to our eyes.
