uTree: Realistic Mass Solar Energy Generation
Solar energy used to lit up streets of an industrial city is closer than you might imagine. The uTree concept by Xabier Perez de Arenaza is one of the most realistic concepts of solar energy generation. These ‘trees’ are of modular structure and can be installed anywhere where there’re few inches of floor space available to support a pole. A rotation engine is mounted in to ensure ‘solar leaves’ of the trees are facing the sun. There are 77 solar cells per leaf each generating 2.5w energy per day, meaning a medium tree can generate 13.86 KWh per day.
