Inspired by the aim to create a humanoid robot that can mimic our physical attributes, a group of Swiss researchers from the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory of the University of Zurich are working on a realistic robot boy. The Roboy is a tendon-driven humanoid robot that will be about the size of a 4-year-old child. Unlike the other existing robots, the Roboy closely reproduces the functions of human tendons, joints, bones, and muscles. The robot is currently in the construction phase and the team plans to raise funds for its production by selling logo space on its body that will be displayed when it goes on tour later this year.
