Photovoltaic Spin Cell Cones Will Bring Up To 20 Times More Electricity
V3Solar embodied an unusual solar panel design in its photovoltaic Spin Cell cones. The current prototype has recently been verified as capable of generating over 20 times more electricity than a static flat panel. The one meter-diameter cones feature a layer of hundreds of triangular photovoltaic cells positioned at an angle of 56 degrees, put in a static hermetically-sealed outer lens concentrator. The photovoltaic cone spins due to part of its own solar-generated power, which feeds a Maglev system intended to reduce the noise generated by the cones. V3 has also devised a “Power Pole,” to hold 10 Spin Cells, or 10KWp, in a footprint of 10 SF: this creates great power density, eliminates threat of floods and lessens environmental impact. The company hopes, that due to reduced physical footprint of the solar cones, the total cost of ownership of solar farms might be also reduced, thus making more projects economically profitable. The V3 Spin Cell is now being improved by Nectar Design, industrial design team.
