NYC Hosts The BMW i Born Electric Tour
Having started in Rome, the BMW i Born Electric Tour has recently stopped in New York. The Born Electric Tour showcases state-of-the-art electric vehicle concepts and sustainable product design. This public event aims to show a new lifestyle grounded on the BMW i brand of futureelectric and hybrid-electric vehicles. This year’s most attractive models are the i3 and i8 Spyder concepts. BMw’s i3 concept is an all-electric vehicle, a city car, featuring the world’s first car body architecture made of carbon fiber. The i8 Concept Spyder is an open-top version of the i8 hybrid-electric sports car which is going into production. The vehicles’ exterior and interior features light blue color characteristic to the i brand. In addition to cars BMW also exhibits sustainably-designed products created by NYC-based designers: the Live Screen installation by the design studio Danielle Trofe Design at the entrance, the self-watering vertical garden. Regarding other displayed articles one should mention clothing and accessories made from recycled leather by the Sway, environmentally sensitive jewelry from Brooklyn designer Vanessa Chew, headphones made with biodegradable cornstarch bio-plastics designed by Michael Young from Eops.
