The Ushuaïa Ibiza Beach Hotel is already known for its novel biometric payment system. Aiming at improving customer experience, the hotel’s management is going to implement similar technology that will recognize guests’ fingerprints and automatically update their Facebook profiles. In collaboration with Springwise, an independent new business ideas and innovation company, it is planned to install touchscreens around the hotel that will give users a set of actions to appear on their Facebook profiles: guests will be able to get a quick access to their own account not by typing in a password, but by putting a finger on a biometric sensor. It will be possible to take a photo, update current location or like the hotel event the visitors are attending at that moment. This project will be launched in 2013 and will substitute the current method of furnishing guests with RFID-enabled wristbands.
