After a team from the Mad Lab Industries have got a PhantomX Hexapod kit from Trossen Robotics they have been working on developing its ability to fly. As a result a hexapod/hexacopter hybrid has been designed. It can scurry along the ground like an insect, or take to the air. At present the hexacopter and hexapod components are controlled separately, but in future both machines will be controlled via a single remote. Besides installing a catch & release mechanism that would allow the hexapod and hexacopter to detach and reattach on the fly is also apart of the sweeping plan. The Mad labs team are going soon to launch a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter, in the meanwhile they are considering the official name for their project.
