Exoskeleton To Help Carry Heavy Items

Researchers from the Tokyo University of Science (Japan) led by prof. Hiroshi Kobayashi are now developing a light exoskeleton concept that can carry items as heavy as 40 kilograms with ease. The exoskeleton is affixed to the hips and shoulders by straps and a padded waistband, while its A-shaped frame is equipped with four pneumatic lightweight rubber blades encased in mesh aka artificial muscles that can provide up to 30 kg of instant support. The exoskeleton frame specially designed to augment the functions of the arms and back is to be available for commercial release next year at ¥15,000 monthly rent.
