Brittany Ransom created Twitter Roach to find out whether insects will respond to a bulk of external signals in a similar way to humans. The small rucksack on its back receives customized wireless signals, then transfers the signals directly to the bug’s antennae. So you can send tweets to @TweetRoach with commands like #TweetRoachLeft or #TweetRoachRight, and the bug must respond. A funny invention might be very useful if all cockroaches were born with this feature built right in.
