Will Supercomputers Operate On A Quantum Processor?

Australian scientists have developed the first working quantum bit out of a single atom in silicon. Their next step will be to put two of these quantum bits together to form a logic gate, which opens the path for supercomputers to operate on a quantum processor. The scientists report about controlling both the spin of a single electron: it was bound to a phosphorus atomand a microwave field was employed to control the electron, which was implanted next to a silicon transistor. Dr. Andrea Morello, the team leader, hopes that the iPhone 36 will come out soon with a quantum processor emitting microwaves.
