The Form of a Robotic Mind: Matanya Horowitz at TEDxCaltech
Matanya Horowitz is a roboticist whose interests span the subjects of mathematics, economics, computer science, and control theory. His work in subjects ranging from artificial intelligence to distributed control seeks to answer the question of why robots appear inept at particular tasks when compared to their human counterparts. He is currently working on several DARPA robotics competitions as part of a JPL team where he confronts this problem directly. Matanya is currently pursuing his doctorate in the control and dynamical systems department at Caltech where he works with professors Joel Burdick and John Doyle. He previously studied at the University of Colorado where he received three B.S. degrees and one B.A. degree, all cum laude, and a M.S. degree.
