Solar Thermal Power Plant Near Las Vegas: The Largest Ever

Solar Thermal Power Plant, green energy, Las Vegas
The largest in the world solar thermal plant near Ivanpah in the desert by Las Vegas is to become the 370-megawatt capacity built by BrightSource. It is a $2.2 billion facility including three towers with concentric mirror circles around them to focus sunlight onto a central tower generating high temperatures and thus producing steam. The project is to be completed next year; and it can boast at least one obvious strong point in comparison with other solar power units: its produced heat is easy to store, therefore energy can be generated even after the sunset, and electricity can be used whenever necessary.
