Lobsters Are Powering Electrical Devices (+VIDEO)
Living organisms are able to produce enough juice to power small electrical devices. This fact has been lately proved by the scientists at Clarkson University and the University of Vermont College of Medicine. They have used for their experiment the so-called ‘cyborg lobsters’: researchers implanted electrodes in the abdomen of two crustaceans, and connected both to a digital watch. The glucose produced by the lobsters was turned into electricity due to a special enzyme, the power was then directed through the cell implanted in the crustacean to the watch, where it remained powered for around an hour in the lab till the glucose levels came down. Thus a future where medical implants could be powered by one’s own electrical energy, where the human body itself acts as the battery is not far off.
