Samuel Jerichow presnts futuristic Horologicode LCD Watch designed for [Tokyoflash]. The creation of this watch concept was inspired by barcodes, which are not only a stylish supplement, but in fact its main elements, telling the time and the wearer is the decoder. This futuristic concept watch functions similarly to the industrial bar code reader, even a gap contains information.
At first sight it might seem a pretty hard task to read the time, cause the LCD screen displays several thick and thin bars of different length that fade away to the top, the gaps between these bars also vary in width. Don’t give up! To be able to read the hours, you are to concentrate on 13 gaps, where the first 12 gaps tell the hours and the last one is an AM/PM indicator. As for the minutes, you should focus on the on the thick bars of Horologicode LCD Watch, ignoring the thin bars that only separate the gaps, and count thick bars from left to right. It’s about the 10 minute steps, so you count up until 5 (00 – 50). The remaining 9 bars on the right side of the barcode represent the second digit of the minutes that has to be counted from the right.
If you’re already confused with the unusual way of reading time, let’s to hope, that the designer will soon work out an easy reading mode.
