Discussing Brain, Immortality And Technological Singularity With Ray Kurzweil And Juan Enriquez (+VIDEO)
TEDx Silicon Alley conference held in New York featured an exciting discussion between today’s most influential and controversial futurist Ray Kurzweil and Juan Enriquez, the founding director of the Life Sciences Project at Harvard Business School. Juan Enriquez is the author of Homo Evolutis, As the Future Catches You and The Untied States of America. He is currently Chairman and CEO of Biotechonomy LLC, a life sciences research and investment firm. His speech at the conference was about tying together tattoos, social media and the idea of immortality. Ray Kurzweil is considered a public advocate for the futurist and transhumanist movements due to his his efforts to forecast future advances in technology, and his interest in the concept of the technological singularity. In the book The Singularity Is Near he reasons that in the year 2030 the exponential increase in computing power will lead humanity to enhance itself with machines. In How to Create a Mind: The Secret of Human Thought Revealed, the most widely discussed and debated science book of the year, Kurzweil presents a provocative exploration of reverse engineering the brain to understand how it functions and using that knowledge to create even more intelligent machines.
