Purely Green Agora Tower Project
Vincent Callebaut, known for his particular eco-vision on architecture design, has worked out a purely ecological Agora tower project for the Xinyin district of Taipei city, Taiwan. The main aim of the project is to establish a symbiotic relationship between city dwellers and nature. The high-performance building will feature tall planted balconies of suspended orchards, organic vegetable gardens and and medicinal greenery. In fact there will be no industrial waste during construction, because it will be returned as a ‘technical nutrient’ for recycling. The spiral form of the towers inspired by the DNA structure expresses dynamism; convex and concave curves make up the serpentine tower, surrounded by a luxuriant forest and interjected by a pedestrian square and aquatic glade. A central circular light provides perfect illumination and ventilation to the deepest levels of the architecture, namely the car park and swimming pool. Photo-voltaic cells, rainwater filtration systems and phyto-depuration structures complement the morphology of the landscaped balconies. Worth attention are the open air ascending terraces, enjoying maximum exposure to sunlight, and descending balconies shielded by the superior level to create optimal spaces for aromatic gardens.
