An Infrared Thermometer Inside A Smartphone
How difficult it might be to take a kid’s temperature? Sounds an easy thing to do but only parents know what it’s really like. You never know if the whole process will result in kid’s biting, scratching or screaming. A lot of parents in such moments would give anything to have a thermometer that you could just aim at your little one’s head, and have her temperature in less than a second. Sounds like a dream? Thanks to Jacob Fraden, an inventor who has patented the smartphone thermometer, very soon manufacturers might equip phones with infrared sensors that will allow measuring the temperature in a second. Temperature-taking wouldn’t be limited to humans, it may be used on pets or even on inanimate objects like stoves or bathtubs. Results should be accurate, falling within International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standards. But so far we don’t know if the inventor’s patented smartphone thermometer will see the light of day.
