Airborne Wind-Power System From NASA Engineers

nasa, airborne wind power system
NASA is working on a prototype kite with a wingspan of over 10 feet to change the view on wind turbines and sustainable energy generation. The kite is to be bound to the on-ground generator powered by the reeling motion of the kite from the wind. It is also to generate electricity via a set of turbines in the kite. This wind power system model is near 90 percent effective. The turbine blades are oriented through a Microsoft Kinect-like pattern recognition, and the kite is maintained by a flight control system in a figure eight flying pattern.
