Have you ever dreamt of watching and enjoying every single detail of Manhattan from the bird’s-eye perspective? But definitely not from your office window in a tall skyscraper! There is no chance you will get a 360° view of the city this way. An architecture company SOM has proposed a ‘floating’ donut-shaped observation deck above the Grand Central Station that would move up and down the sides of two new office towers, creating a unique way to see Manhattan from above. By request of the Municipal Art Society of New York it is necessary to re-think the spaces in and around the station, which the company has eagerly done. The plans also include new pedestrian routes to help ease congestion, and a series of public spaces.
