Tokyo National Stadium was built in 1964 both to host Tokyo Olympics and symbolize the progress of of Japan’s post-war nation. Japan New National Stadium International design competition has been lately held to rebuild this symbol into a new site for sports. It must be a modern international sporting space that can accommodate up to 80,000 spectators, the structure of the building must enable spectators to enjoy different sporting events in an exciting atmosphere, and this stadium must be ready for hosting 2019 Rugby World Cup. Zaha Hadid Architects design proposal boasts the famous Zaha Hadid features like fluid design that represents the sense of dynamism inherent to sporting activities. Morever, the National Stadium concept features progressive environmental technologies, cause it’s a green building, utilizing natural lighting systems, passive ventilation systems, photovoltaic power generation, geothermal energy use, greywater use, and rainwater cooling system.
