Startup company ‘Planetary Resources’ with advisors like Larry Page, Eric Schmidt, James Cameron and Charles Simonyi on the list is working on tapping natural resources in space. As confirmed by a related study done by Keck Institute for Space Studies (KISS) at the California Institute of Technology’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, gathering resources from asteroids could be possible as early as by 2025. And though the very first flight may cost over $2.6 billion, there’s a potential to receive trillions of dollars in revenues. The advanced techniques will have to be utilized to gather and house resources from space, like fuel, oxygen or even water, however the whole endeavor may be more feasible than drilling oil under deep waters.
