Print Your Prescribed Drugs At Home On 3D Printer
The scientists at the University of Glasgow (Scotland) leaded by Prof. Lee Cronin worked out a method to print both the containing reactor (the cover of pills) and reactionware (inside chemicals) to produce drugs by a doctor, a chemist or even a patient at their local facility. The researchers utilized a typical 3D printer (commercially available at an affordable price) and some open source software to develop the system. Though the project is it its nascent stage, a day, when patients will start printing their prescribed pharmaceuticals may come soon, after technology for combining chemical compounds for medicines is well in place.
