Meta And Epson Present AR Glasses Prototype (+VIDEO)
A great many of goggle-like devices offering immersive 3D gaming or simply capturing your everyday life for sharing online have appeared lately besides Google’s Project Glass. Among the others is a a start-up called meta, which has created AR glasses in collaboration with Epson. This smart gadget lets users control virtual objects in 3D space with the help of hand gestures. Meta is a two-part setup that comprises a pair of modified see-through Epson Moverio glasses with a Kinect-like 3D camera mounted on top featuring low-latency motion software that tracks a person’s hands in 3D space. Meron Gribetz, founder of the meta project, claims their goal is to go one step further than other augmented reality prototypes that simply offer superimposed digital readouts with limited control. Designers are really excited about the effects on productivity, media entertainment, retail, and of course, an amazing new class of games entering our real world.
