Laser: Driving Info On Your Windshield

laser system projects info on the road ahead
Microvision develops an efficient head-up display (HUD) beaming useful driving data onto a driver’s view of the windshield. Microvision’s image projector is made from semiconductor laser, consists of three layers – red, blue and green and utilizes a one millimeter wide mirror. One pixel at a time is illuminated in this technology to save energy. The breakthrough in this case is a high image quality and contrast, making images vibrantly visible at any lighting conditions. The laser projecting technology is still too expensive, so it’s available in a few concept cars only.
