Zaha Hadid, Patrik Schumacher, Sawaya & Moroni have presented an unusual light with a series of furniture pieces. The design of Vortex Chandelier employs flowing, curvilinear forms; a double helix connects its beginning to its end, thus forming an endless strip of light. The light corpus is 2 m high and 1.5 m wide; it consists of 12 separate mouldings that fit together seamlessly in a 12 m long string. Its opaque surface etches two transparent acrylic light spirals and a recessed LED light strip ensures stunning visual sensations, which can be programmed with Zumtobel’s lighting management system. Due to a special suspension assembly this chandelier can be attached flush to the ceiling.
