Google Glasses: Directional Sound & Speech To The Deaf
Pushing the envelope with Google Glass project, the company seems to develop glasses to benefit the hearing-impaired community. The glasses are to display directional arrow and flashing lights increasing with the intensity of the sound, and to include the speech-to-text feature, with the option indicating who is saying what in the group, beyond that specifying what living being or object is making a sound. According to the pattern, the glasses will include several microphones and video cameras coupled with a “finger-operable touch pad”. According to one of the scenarios by Google the video from the front-facing camera will be combined with generated images to create an augmented reality.
