NEC has worked out a new facial recognition system for retail chains in Japan with multiple stores that tracks shoppers’ faces and determines such parameters as their gender, age, and visiting frequency. NeoFace is an innovative face detection and comparison technology, which collects the data, dates and time to analyze trends in customer behavior. All you need for NEC’s system is a PC and video camera. This technology could improve sales strategies, though it will cost a store $880 per month.
