Etihad Towers Will Become Abu Dhabi’s Landmark
The annual Emporis Skyscraper Award acknowledges global excellence in both aesthetic and functional design for high-rise architecture. Gold Coast-based DBI Design has won the third place for its cutting-edge architecture design of the billion dollar Etihad Towers, a particularly harmonious ensemble of buildings. DBI Design managing director Warren Coyle reports that “the buildings’ curved shapes are intended to represent billowing sails, referencing Abu Dhabi’s history as a port.” Etihad Towers includes five towers, ranging from 56 to 77 storeys, with a total of 885 apartments, a commercial office tower and a hotel tower, across a total built area of 492,084sqm. The award winning hotel tower, occupied by Jumeirah at Etihad has been already named Best Business Hotel for the Middle East and Best Business Hotel Abu Dhabi earlier this year.
