Electric Skateboard: “Last Mile” Mode Of Transport (+VIDEO)
An electric skateboard prototype, which can provide a push-free ride for up to 6 miles, has been produced by San Francisco-based startup Boosted Boards. The developers claim it to be the world’s lightest electric vehicle with the weight about 12 – 15 lb (5.5 – 6.8 kg). The longboard aims at complementing existing public transportation infrastructure for the final leg of the journey home. The board features the following components: Loaded Vanguard, Bear Grizzly 852s, Otang 80A In Heats and Jehu bearings. Its top speed is limited to 20 mph; the board is to easily climb hills up to a 15 percent grade. The rider is given a handheld remote with throttle and braking controls, as well as a battery gauge. The lithium battery pack charges full in less than two hours. The longboard’s twin brushless motors feature regenerative braking to give the battery a top-up when coming to a stop and, in case you’re tired or just feel like doing some exercises, it can be pushed along like an ordinary longboard.
