Ray Kurzweil is considered a public advocate for the futurist and transhumanist movements due to his his efforts to forecast future advances in technology, and his interest in the concept of the technological singularity. In the book The Singularity Is Near he reasons that in the year 2030 the exponential increase in computing power will lead humanity to enhance itself with machines. In How to Create a Mind: The Secret of Human Thought Revealed, the most widely discussed and debated science book of the year, Kurzweil presents a provocative exploration of reverse engineering the brain to understand how it functions and using that knowledge to create even more intelligent machines.
