BIOSwimmer: Unmanned Underwater Vehicle For Defense Purposes (+VIDEO)
The BIOSwimmer, designed by Boston Engineering and funded by the Department of Homeland Security, resembles a tuna, which seems to be a perfect model for submarines. It is an unmanned underwater vehicle developed for security missions to inspect assets in harsh situations: clear up whether pumps are working in oily water, inspect harbors and piers for bombs, investigate flooded ships etc. BIOswimmer is battery powered, it features remote control from a laptop and can be equipped with several different kinds of payloads (usually sensors).
