Area Defense Anti-Munitions System Nullifies Rocket Attacks (+VIDEO)

Lockheed Martin has developed Area Defense Anti-Munitions System (ADAM for short), a self-contained unit designed to nullify attacks from unmanned aerial vehicles, or improvised rocket attacks from the ground. The system is planned to be used to protect vulnerable assets such as military bases near the frontline, acquiring and tracking short-range targets from a distance of 5 km (3.1 miles), and destroying from a range of up to 2 km (1.2 miles). On April 22 there was the prototype test, when ADAM destroyed a “Qassam-like” rocket, artillery munition used by the military wing of Hamas in attacks against Israel. You can see from the video below, how the high energy laser (HEL) system destroys a rocket at 1.5 km distance (0.9 miles).
