Are Self-Flying Cars On The Horizon?

A company which wants to introduce flying cars says its first model, the Transition, should be available commercially in 2016.

Boston based company Terrafugia says it has overcome technical difficulties that saw the firm lose favour with some investors who had expected aircraft sales to begin in 2012.

Chief executive Carl Dietrich told BBC Click’s Dan Simmons the company was also developing a vertical take-off and landing aircraft, which they expect to be available in eight to 10 years.

Mr Dietrich explained he wanted to transform personal transportation and offer the public the chance to fly to where they need to go with minimal tuition.
