The Dutch non-profit organization Mars One has recently released its basic requirements to apply to become an astronaut for visiting Mars. These are the following: at least 18, to be in good mental and physical state, and readiness not to return to Earth. The project is aimed for people who can work well together, and devote 8 years of training to establish a habitable colony on the Red Planet. The company plans to send the first group of volunteers to Mars to establish a permanent settlement there in 2023 with more to arrive every two years later. The expedition will be funded by the reality-style televised broadcast; the latter will also help to chose the finalists, record their training and film the flight.
